Located in the heart of a vibrant shopping village in Caloundra, Sachi Coffee was envisioned and brought to life by our in-house design and build team at Studio Hiller.

Inspired by the simplicity and harmony of Japanese minimalism, the space reflects a quiet sophistication—pairing clean lines with natural textures to create a calming experience for both staff and customers.

Planning and designing within a tenancy defined by angled walls posed a unique spatial challenge. Rather than fight the geometry, we embraced it—crafting a custom café counter that responds to the angled layout while maintaining a clear workflow for baristas and intuitive customer movement.

With regards to the interiors, the palette is grounded in natural timber, featured prominently across the ceiling panels, café counter, and custom shelving. These elements establish warmth and texture, counterbalancing the cool neutrality of the existing grey tiled floor.

To soften the space and introduce visual depth, the tenancy walls are finished in specialty paint creating a gentle, textured backdrop while complementing the tonal palette of timber and stone

Lighting design was also considered as an integral part of the spatial narrative

With wall washers creating an ambient illumination, enhancing the subtle texture of the painted walls, targeted spotlights that bring focus to key merchandising areas, encouraging visual engagement and LED strip lighting integrated into the cafe counter that softly lights the floor, reinforcing the counter's presence while adding a functional and atmospheric glow

The layered lighting scheme creates both moody and clarity, elevating the cafe's operational and aesthetic experience

Another layered element in the space was the goal to weave the cafe's branding into the details of the interior

From the minimal wall decal on the back wall that introduces the brand without overwhelming the visual language to the custom metal trims on the coffee machines. Sachi Coffee's identity is expressed subtly, yet cohesively.

And last but not the least, a discreet, tonal vision band on the glass doors integrates safety with branding in a way that feels intentional and aligned

These details were never afterthoughts—they were designed in tandem with the interior, resulting in a space that is not only branded, but embodied

This project exemplifies our belief in holistic design—where branding, materiality, function, and emotion intersect. Every surface, finish, and fixture works in harmony to express the Sachi Coffee identity: quiet, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the ritual of coffee
